Glodena's Slaw

Ingredients
1 large head of cabbage, shredded, or 3 bags cole slaw mix1 medium red onion, sliced into rings7/8 C sugar3/4 C olive oil3/4 C salad or cider vinegar1/4 C water2 tsp sugar1 1/2 tsp salt1/2 tsp celery seed
Directions
Layer cabbage and onion in a 4 quart bowl. Pour 7/8 cup of sugar over the top. DO NOT STIR.

Bring the last six ingredients to a boil in a small saucepan. Pour over sugar and cabbage-onion layers. DO NOT STIR.

Refrigerate at least 24 hours, the longer the better. Stir before serving. Keeps very well in the refrigerator.
