June's Mustard Beans Relish/Salad

Ingredients
1 c. sugar1 T. minced onion1/2 c. cider vinegar1/4 tsp. salt (optional)3 T. prepared yellow mustard 16 oz. can, drained, or 19 oz. package, frozen, yellow wax beans
Directions
Combine the following in a cooking pot and bring to the boiling point: sugar, onion, cider vinegar, salt (if desired), and mustard. When the sugar has dissolved, add the yellow wax beans to the pot. Simmer uncovered 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool in pot, pour into closed container, and then refrigerate overnight. Enjoy.
