french onion soup

2 onion1/4 cup butter6 c. beef broth1 c. sherrythyme
Directions
cook sliced onions in butter with thyme covered
finish cooking onions uncovered for 1 hour or until carmelized
add liquids
simmer for 10 min.

cover with bread and cheese optional
