Fried Green Tomatoes

Ingredients
6 med green tomatoes1/2 cup whole wheat flour1/2 cup cornmeal1/2 tsp salt1/2 tsp pepper1/2 tsp dried oregano2 eggs beaten1/3 cup peanut oil
Directions
Remove both ends of the green tomatoes, and core as needed of hard stem. Slice into about 1/3 to 1/2 inch thickness.
Mix flour, cornmeal, salt, pepper and oregano together.
Dip tomato slices into beaten egg, then into flour mix. Heat skillet to hot with small amount of oil. Add tomatoes, a few at a time. Cook until golden on both sides. (Can also spray one side with pam to help it brown and cut down on oil) Set cooked tomatoes aside on a baking pan, and cook the rest. Heat in the oven a few minutes just before serving.
