Vegetarian Split Pea Soup

2 cups or 1-16 ounce bag of split peas8 cups of water4 carrots chopped2 onions chopped4-5 celery tops chopped1 bay leaf
cover split peas with water and bring to a boil while chopping vegetables. Add vegetables and bay leaf along with 2 teaspoons salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper to peas. Once mixture is boiling reduce heat to low and cover continue to cook 1 - 1.5 hours
