Northern Beans

Ingredients
1 tsp allspice1 tsp. basil1 tsp. cayenne2 tsp. cumin1 tsp. ginger root powder1 tsp. marjoram1 tsp. oregano1 tsp. rosemary1 tsp. turmeric1 tsp. salt2 tbsp. olive oil (or other oil)4 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped4 large stalks celery, chopped1/2 large onion, chopped1/2 c. molasses1 can (4 oz.) mushrooms2 2/3 c. frozen peas3 c. cooked northern beans (or other cooked bean)3 c. water or vegetable broth or chicken broth or beef broth.
Directions
Serves approximately 9 1/2 one cup servings.
Heat spices on medium heat for a few seconds before adding 2 tbsp. olive oil in heavy duty pot. Heat oil for a minute on medium high heat. Add garlic, celery, onions and saute for a few minutes on high. Lower heat to medium and cook onion mixture until onions clear and soft. Add peas , mushrooms, beans, molasses, and broth. Heat to boiling then lower heat to low and simmer uncovered until desired consistency.
