1 cup water1/8 tsp ground savory1/4 tsp thyme1/4 tsp sage1/4 tsp black pepper1/4 top gumbo filé (optional)1/4 tsp cumin seeds1/4 tsp fennel seeds1/4 tsp granulated garlic1/4 tsp paprika1/2 tsp red pepper flakes2 tsp granulated onion1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)1 c dry TVP granules (textured vegetable protein)1 egg1/2 tsp powdered stevia or other sugar substitute3 Tbsp grapeseed oil, peanut oil, or other oil
Not my recipe! Found this on vegetarianunderground.com, and it's worth spreading around. To me it tastes better than Morning Star Farms sausage patties, and it's a lot less pricey.
Makes 12 breakfast patties.
Add spices and salt to water, bring to boil. Add TVP. Remove from heat, stir well, and allow to cool enough to mix with egg. Beat egg with stevia and add to TVP mixture. Form 12 small patties. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium low. Brown patties and allow to set up, turn and brown the other side.
