German Stew

Ingredients
20 oz stew meat lean1 Tbl plus 1 tsp oil1 medium carrot1/2 cup onion2 cloves garlic chopped2 small apples cored pared and chopped1.5 Cup water1/2 cup red wine2 beef broth packets1 bay leaf1/2 tsp thymepepper to taste.
Directions
Brown meat in pan . Remove, Saute carrot, onion, and garlic. Add beef and remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Reduce heat , simmer with cover on for 25 minutes. Remove cover and continue cooking stirring often until meat is fork tender.
