Turkey Sausage Bean Soup (brown & serve links)

Ingredients
4 cups water1 medium potato, peeled and chopped6 brown-and-serve turkey sausage links2 cans (16 oz.. each) Kidney beans, rinsed and drained1 can (28 oz). diced tomatoes, undrained1 cup chopped onion1 med. pepper, chopped1 bay leaf1/2 tsp garlic salt1/2 tsp. Seasoned salt1/2 tsp. pepper1/2 tsp dried thyme
Directions
In a large pan bring water and potato to a boil. Cover and cook 10 -15 minutes or until tender (do not drain). Meanwhile crumble sausage into skillet; cook over med. heat until browned. Drain if necessary. Add to saucepan.
Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to boil. Reduce heat ; simmer, uncovered, for 8 - 10 minutes or until heated through, stirring occasionally. Discard bay leaf.

If you would like to make it with hamburger brown it in a little water, when browned add enough water to cover it up meat to 2-3 inchces. Cook for 10 - to 15 minutes (this will render fat out) drain and rinse with hot water. Now start the soup with 4 cups of water.
