Braised Steak with Mushroom & Onion Gravy

16 oz. round steak1 tbs oil1 c. sliced fresh mushrooms1 med onion, sliced2 cloves garlic minced2 tbs vinegar1/2 tsp. dried basil or marjoram1/4 tsp pepper2 c. water1-2 tsp gravy master browning sauce4 tbs. all purpose flour2 tbs. snipped parsley (optional) for garnish
Trim fat from steak and cut into 4 portions.
Mix flour, basil and pepper
Dredge steak in flour to coat both sides of meat
Heat oil in nonstick skillet and brown meat till browned on both sides. (adding more oil if necessary but don't forget to add to nutritional count if used.)
Mix browning sauce and vinegar with water.
Add garlic, onion, mushrooms and water / sauce mixture.
Bring to boil, turn down heat then cover and simmer for 1 to 1/4 hours, or till meat is tender. Stirring several times and add water as neccesary to prevent sticking.
*Can be done in the oven or croc pot after meat is browned to save time.
Makes 4 servings
Serve with Hot Noodles or Mashed potatoes
