Ingredients
Directions
2 tsp vanilla½ c liquid egg substitute (Egg Beaters Original)¾ c fat free milk (Smart Balance Omega 3’s)8 slices stale bread (Sara Lee Soft & Smooth)Canola cooking sprayAllspice spice shaker (or cinamon)Sugar free table syrup like Springtree, 30 cal per serving
Mix together egg, milk & vanilla—Pour onto dipping plate. Preheat large pan, spray w/oil & heat gently. Dip both sides of bread. Fry over medium heat, 1.5-3 mins/side, dashing a little spice on each side as you go, or bake all at once in a 450 degree oven on a cookie sheet for 3 mins each side. Platter 2½ slices & ¼ c sugar free table syrup. Using Springtree's sugar free syrup, you can add 1/2 teaspoon of powdered sugar, which brings the total plating to only 275 calories, just like the Jenny Craig combo. It's fine to use Log Cabin table syrup if you prefer; their low calorie sugar free version is 35 calories per 1/4 cup. You can use real maple syrup but to get it down to 35 calories you'd have to restrict yourself to 2 teaspoons.
