Choco - Raspberry Meringue Bars

Ingredients
1/2 cup butter or stick margarine, softened1/2 cup dark brown sugar2 egg yolks1/4 teaspoon salt1 1/2 cups flour1 cup quick-cooking oatmeal (not instant)1 cup dark high-quality chocolate chunks1 1/2 cup all-fruit raspberry jam4 egg whites1/3 cup granulated sugar1/2 cup finely chopped hazelnuts1/2 cup slivered almonds
Directions
Preheat oven to 350F.
Cream the butter and brown sugar.
Add egg yolks and salt. Add flour and oatmeal and knead in.
Pat batter onto a greased cookie sheet.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until lightly browned.
Remove from oven.
While hot, spread with jam and top with chocolate.
Beat egg whites until soft peaks. Beat in sugar and whip to stiff peaks.
Fold in nuts.
Gently spread on top of jam and chocolate.
Bake 25 minutes.
Cool completely. Cut into squares or bars.
