Low-fat Apple butter

3 apples1 cup apple juice1/2 cup water1/8 tsp cinnamon (optional)pinch of nutmeg (optional)
Preheat oven to 350
Peel, core, and cut apples into half ince pieces
Arrange apples in roasting pan; pour apple juice and water over them
Bake for 30-90 minutes checking apples every 30 minutes until they are tender
Mash with a fork until smooth (leave a few chunks if you like)
Bake an additional 10-15 minutes or until golden brown
You can eat this on toast or treat it like applesause
You can also add cinnamon and/or nutmeg to make the apple butter great for a Christmas brunch.
