candy cane cookies

Ingredients
1/2 c softened butter (or margarine)1/2 c shortening1 c powdered sugar1 egg1 1/2 tsp almond extract1 tsp vanilla extract2 1/2 c flour1 tsp salt
Directions
Mix butter, shortening, sugar, egg and flavorings. Blend in flour and salt. Divide dough in half. add red food coloring to 1/2 dough. Using a tsp. roll 1 tsp each of red and white dough into a 4 inch rope. Place side by side. Lightly press together and twist either into a straight or a hooked cane.

Bake 9 minutes or 'til lightly browned.

Serving Size: Makes 3 1/2 dozen, 4 inch long cookies
