Robin's Homemade Bread
- Number of Servings: 32
Ingredients
Directions
Half whole wheat bread flour and half unbleached white flour, molasses for moisture and sweetness, butter, salt, yeast (with a bit of sugar) and warm water (105 degrees) to grow it. One egg.
I use a bread maker for the difficult part. So, raise your yeast in 1 cup hot water (105 degrees) with 1 tsp sugar. Melt your butter. Add egg, butter, and molasses to bread mixer. Add yeast when you have one inch of fizzy looking growth (about 10 min). Then add your dry ingredients. Set bread maker for wheat bread dough. When that finishes (about 1 hour 45 min), remove dough, shape into loaf, place in greased loaf pan. Cover pan with damp cloth towel and set in warm spot for final rise (time depends on warmth and weather). When it rises a good 1 to 2 inches above the pan sides, bake at 325 for 30 min. Cool on cooling rack covered with towel to prevent drying of sides and top.
