Bourbon Street Chicken

2 pounds chicken breast tenders cut into five or six pieces each.2 tablespoons butter1 teaspoon chopped garlic1/4 teaspoon ground ginger1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes2 Tablspoons sugar2 Tablespoons applesauce1/3 cup light brown sugar2 Tablespoons ketchup1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar1/2 cup plus 2 Tablespoons water1/3 cup soy sauce1 Tablespoon cornstarch (or amount needed to achieve desired sauce thickness)
Heat butter in a large skillet.
Cut chicken into 1 inch pieces.
Add chicken pieces and cook until lightly browned.
In small saucepan combine all remaining ingredients. Bring to boil then simmer until sauce achieves desired thickness.
At this point you can combine the chicken and sauce or leave separate and allow everyone to take what they want.
