3 cups - Bread flour (I use a mixture of 1/2 whole wheat and 1/2 white)2 tsp salt1tsp brown sugar1 packet of yeast (2-1/4 tsp)14 oz of water or less, depending on moisture of dough3 Tbs butter or lard
Mix flour, salt, and yeast well. Add part of water (make sure temp of water is between 110-120°) and mix. Add butter or lard. Add remaining water until dough is right texture. Kneed for 5 minutes or until silky. Lie flat and pat into rectangle shape and roll. Place seam down in well greased loaf pan and let rise for about 45 minutes. Then bake for 30 minutes at 400°F.
Serving Size: Makes 1 loaf approximately 18-20 slices.
