Hearty Mushroom Soup

Ingredients
1 Pound Fresh Mushrooms or 2 cans (6-8 oz) sliced3 tbl. oil1 pound lean ground beef or turkey1 28 oz. can peeled whole tomatoes crushed1 10 3/4 oz can beef broth2 soup cans of water.2 tsp. onion powder1 1/2 tsp. salt1/2 tsp. ground thyme 1 tsp. pepper1/2 cup instant brown rice
Directions
Rinse and pat dry mushrooms, slice fresh mushrooms. Heat oil in large sauce pan. Add mushrooms, sauté for 5 min. Remove and set aside. Brown and drain ground beef or turkey. Add all other ingredients except rice. Bring to boil and turn down heat , simmer for 5 min. Stir in rice, cover set aside for 5 min. Serve.
Makes 8 1 cup servings. give or take.
