Barbeque Beef Sandwiches

1.5 lbs. extra lean ground beef1.5 cups chopped onion.5 cup chopped bell pepper1 Tlbs olive oil1 t. garlic powder1 14.5 oz can of petite diced tomatoes (including liquid).5 cup prepared barbeque sauce (I use Sweet Baby Rays )
Chop onions and bell peppers and saute in 1/2 of the olive oil until tender but not browned. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Transfer to a bowl then add remaining olive oil to the pan and then the meat and brown. Season meat with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. When meat is browned and all liquid is gone from pan, add the sauted onion and bell peppers to meat and combine. Add 1 14.5 oz can of petite diced tomatoes and 1/2 cup of barbeque sauce and combine well. Taste to see if you need to add additional salt and pepper. Cover pan with lid and reduce heat to simmer and cook for 30 to 45 minutes Mixture should still be wet but not soupy. Serve on whole wheat bun or whole wheat toast points.
