canned prepared wine sourkraut 1 sliced onion 1 peeled and sliced 50 g slab diced bacon1tsp vegetable oil10 genever grains 10 peppercorn 1 bay leaf 1/4 cup chicken broth ( homemade , if possible), to keep moisture
Cook oil to medium high, and add bacon to fry and release fat.
Drain fat, reserving 1 Tbsp .
Set bacon bits on a paper towel to absorb exces fat and reserve.
In reserved fat , cook apples and onions until transparent, add sourkraut , peppercorns , genever corns bayleaf and bouillon, and bacon bits.
Cover and cook on slow for 2 hours, checking from time to time to top up with bouillon ,if necessarry.
Serving Size: 6 1-cup serving
