Cuban Garlic Rice

.25 C olive oil1.5 C white rice, med grain1.5 C water1 tsp garlic powder8 oz tomato sauce (or crushed tomatoes)2 tsp. fresh minced garlic (heaping).5 tsp Cumin powder.5 chicken boullion cube
Pour oil into bottom of heavy bottomed large pan {spaghetti pot sized}.
When oil is hot, stir in white rice, stir often. Rice will start to puff and get crispy quickly. It can burn easily!
When the majority of the rice has turned white with brown edges, add other ingredients. The water will steam up , so be careful!
bring back to a boil, cover with lid, and turn temp down to simmer. Simmer for 25-35 minutes until rice is done.
Serving Size: Use Large heavy bottomed pan
