Another Red Lentil Soup

Ingredients
~2 cups dry red lentils~5 cups water1 carrot (diced)1 potato (cubed)1 onion (diced)saltpepperother spices (whatever seems tasty)1 Tbs olive oil (optional)
Directions
Wash lentils in a medium saucepan until water is clear.
Add water to lentils.
Add carrot, potato, onion and salt.
Bring contents to a boil, then down to a simmer.
Add other spices (cumin, chili powder, black pepper, etc) until it seems tasty.
Continue to cook until lentils are soft and veggies are ready.
Add olive oil and serve.
