Banana Oatmeal Cookies

¼ cup shortening¼ cup full fat cream cheese, softened½ cup granulated sugar½ cup brown sugar3 mashed ripe bananas1 tbsp vanilla extract2 cups whole wheat flour2 cup old fashioned oats½ tsp baking soda1 tsp salt1 tsp ground cinnamon2 tbsp ground flaxseed2 cups dark chocolate wafers (couverture is best)
Preheat oven to 350F and line a baking sheet with parchment or foil.
In a bowl cream together the shortening, cheese and the sugars.
Beat in the bananas and vanilla.
Mix in flour, oats, baking soda, salt, spice and flaxseed.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop by spoonfuls onto baking sheet and flatten slightly with wet fingers.
Bake for 8-10 minutes.
