Grandmas Banana Bread

Ingredients
1 cup sugar1/2 cup shortening2 eggs1 tsp vanilla2 cups flour1 tsp baking soda1/2 tsp salt1 cup walnuts (optional)3 ripe bananas, mashed
Directions
Grease loaf pan and preheat oven to 325 degrees. Combine sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla, cream together well. Add dry ingredients. Mix in the mashed bananas, the mixture will be lumpy.
Pour into baking pan and bake for 1 hour 15 minutes until toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
