Beef and Barley Vegetagble Soup

Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef5 cups water1 - 14.5 oz can of stewed tomatoes1 - 6 oz can V-8 juice1/3 cup pearl barley1/3 cup dried split peas1/2 cup chopped onion1 Tblsp bouillon crystals1/4 tsp black pepper1/4 tsp dried basil1/4 tsp dried oregano1 bay leaf3/4 cup chopped celery1/2 cup slice carrots
Directions
Brown ground beef and drain.
Add water and next 10 ingredients (all but carrots and celery).
Bring to a boil, cover, and reduce heat.
Simmer for 30 minutes.
Stir in carrots and celery.
Cover and simmer for 30 more minutes.
Remove bay leaf and serve.

* For cooking in crock pot*
Brown ground beef.
Put all ingredients in crock pot.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
