3.5 cup Chickpeas (garbanzo beans) 1 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions, raw 3 clove Garlic 20 sprigs Parsley 2 large Egg, fresh, whole, raw 1 cup Quaker Oats Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats
Falafel
Ingredients:
1 onion, quartered
3 xl tsp minced garlic
1/2 bunch parsley, stems removed
2 cans of chick peas, drained and rinsed
2 tsp corriander
3 tsp cumin
1 tsp cayenne
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
1 cup rolled oats- processed into flour
Salt/pepper to taste
Steps:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a baking pan by spraying with nonstick cooking spray (oil-based spray is best).
Sautee onion and garlic in about 3tbsp water until soft and slightly caramelized.
Combine onion, garlic, parsley leaves, and chickpeas in a large mixing bowl, then pulse in a food processor, the mixture should be lumpy yet tacky.
Remove about 1/3 of mixture and re-pulse in food processor until the mixture is very smooth.
Recombine the blended mixture. Add eggs, spices, and rolled oats.
Create mixture into 10 burger patties (create meatballs, then squish when you flip in step 7).
Place patties on the baking pan, bake for 12 minutes the flip. When flipping the patties, squish the patties from a ball shape to a burger patty shape. Cook for another 12 minutes.
