Aunt Sis's Macaroni Salad

Ingredients
1 box elbow macaroni cooked1 pint sweet gherkins in juice1 cup mayonnaise or Miracle Whip (you can use low-fat if you wish)1/4 cup milk (I always use skim)2 cups grated carrots 1/4 cup chopped onions (you can add more if you like)2 stalks of celery chopped
Directions
1. Cook macaroni to firm or al dente stage.
2. Drain macaroni and place back in kettle (off heat) and pour sweet pickle juice (all of it) over the macaroni and stir.
3. Chop pickles and add to macaroni along with the carrots, onions, and celery. Allow to sit while you mix up the mayonnaise and milk.
4. Put the mayonnaise in the pickle jar and add about 1/4 cup of milk. Put on lid and shake well (you want a slurry like consistency for your mayo/milk mixture).
5. Pour mayo/milk mixture over the macaroni and stir well.
6. Place in containers and cool.
7. Refrigerate and serve when cold.
