You can substitute water for the milk and the crust is "crisper". Our favorite is made with two cans of cherry pie filling. - 6/2/08

sounds really good. my friends mom always substitutes half of the butter in any baking recipe with the same amount of banana (pureed) so I'm going to make this using banana and splenda. of course I'll have to mix the banana and margarine really good, but she does it with all her cobblers and pies - 8/2/08

To Briarmama: a stick of butter is 4oz. I found this out by asking an American lady I heard chatting to her husband in a theatre foyer in London a few years ago! - 5/5/09

Never made cobbler before cause I thought it was too time consuming & difficult...not anymore, and Mom says it tasted just like hers! Thanks! - 8/11/08

I reduced the butter to 2 tablespoons and give it a stir.
Wonderful with fresh or frozen fruits and topped with yogurt. - 8/1/08

Tastey as it is but a bit sweet and almost greasy. I tried again with 1/2 stick (2 oz) butter and 1/2 sour cream and 1/2 skim milk. The batter was a bit too thick so it didn't rise as well. I also added about 1/4 tsp nutmeg to the batter and blueberries, which I don't like but loved the cobbler! - 8/18/08

So So Good. Good way to use up just about any type of fruit that is nearing it's life expectancy. I used 1/2 cup Splenda instead of sugar, wheat flour with 1 tsp of baking soda instead of self rising flour and half of the low fat marg. - 6/3/08

Sounds really gorgeous. But can you tell us Brits what is the weight, or cup equivalent, of a stick of margarine, we don't have them here. - 8/2/08

This was really good and really easy. I used whole wheat flour and not as much margarine instead and it still turned out really delicious. - 6/29/09

For all those who think this has too many calories, conside that a regular serving of cake with frosting has about double the amount of calories. This sounds too good not to try. Love that fruit!!!! - 5/8/09

This is an incredible recipe. I made it for 2 sets of company. The first time I used peaches and frozen mixed fruit. The second time I make it I used peaches and blueberries. My guests were very impressed. I did not tell them it was so easy to make. - 8/12/11
