Crock Pot Country Style Split Pea Soup

Split Peas, 2 cup (remove)ham bones or hocks, 1 large or 2 mediumWater, tap, 8 cup (8 fl oz) (remove)Garlic, 1 clove (remove)Carrots, raw, 1 cup, chopped (remove)Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped (remove)Salt, 1 tsp (remove)Pepper, black, .125 tsp (remove)
Place all ingredients, including water, into a 4 quart or larger crock pot. Set to low and cook for 8-10 hours, stirring occasionally and before serving. Goes great with a tossed salad and corn bread or sourdough bread. Makes 8-9 1-cup servings.

DELICIOUS! The flavor was great. I made a few minor adjustments, but the base recipe was fabulous. I added additional garlic, salt, and Tony Chachare's. Everyone in my family loved it including my 12yo who refuses to eat anything that resembles a veggie. LOL. Thanks for a great soup! - 8/4/09
