Split Pea and Ham Soup

2 cups green split peas8 cup water1 cup ham, diced1 cup onion, chopped1 cup sliced carrots3/4 cup celery, chopped1 bay leaf1 tsp garlic salt1 tsp onion powder1/4 tsp ground thyme1/4 tsp peppersalt to taste
makes 8 servings
1. Sort and rinse peas according to package directions.
2. Place peas in large pot with 8 cups water. Bring to a boil; cover and simmer 20-30 minutes or until peas are tender.
3. Blend peas in blender or food processor in batches and return to pot.
4. Add all other ingredients and return to boil. Cover and simmer 30 more minutes or until vegetables are tender.
5. Remove bay leaf before serving.
