Ingredients
Directions
1 lb bag of split peas3 cups diced fully cooked ham8 cups of water or chicken stock or ham stock3 ribs of celery diced4 Medium Potatoes, diced1 Green Pepper, diced1 Large Onion, diced5 teaspoons Chicken bouillion granules1 teaspoon rubbed sage1/2 teaspoon basil1/2 - 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
Prepare veggies. I used food processor to prepare them. For the ham, I boiled the meat off of the ham bone that I had left over from Christmas Dinner and saved the ham stock and used it for the liquid, and cut up the ham. It had come clean off of the bone. Then combine all ingredients in 6 quart dutch oven or stock pot. Bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Then cover and reduce heat, and simmer for one and a half hours. Then I used an immersion blender to semi-puree it, leaving some chunks for texture.
