Applesauce Cookies

1 lb cooking apples, peeled, cored, and chopped2 T water1/2 c sugar1/2 c butter or margarine1 c all-purpose flour1/2 t baking powder1/2 t baking sodapinch of salt1/2 t ground cinnamon
Cook the apples with water in a covered saucepan over low heat until the apple is tender. Cool slightly, then puree in a blender or mash with a fork. Measure out about 3/4 cup.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Grease a baking sheet. In a medium-sized bowl, cream together the sugar and butter or margarine until well mixed. Beat in the applesauce.
Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon into the mixture and stir to blend.
Drop teaspoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about two inches apart.
Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes and cool on a wire rack.
