Low-Fat Applesauce Oat Brownies

1/4 c. butter or margarine, melted1/4 c. applesauce, unsweetened3/4 c. sugar1 tsp. vanilla1 egg1/2 c. flour (white or white/wheat mixed)1/4 c. oats1/3 c. cocoa, unsweetened1/4 tsp. baking powder dash salt(nuts or choco chips optional - not added in nutritional totals)(powdered sugar optional for dusting the brownie tops after baking)
Heat oven to 350. Grease or spray 8 or 9-inch baking pan.
Stir together butter, applesauce, sugar and vanilla. Add egg and mix well.
Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt - add to butter mixture and mix well.
Spread in pan and bake 20-25 minutes or until center toothpick comes out clean.
Cut into 16 squares - 1 square is one serving.
