Ham and Potatoes Gratin

Ingredients
2.5 lbs potatoes, peeled and sliced3 cups skim milk1 sprig thyme2 garlic cloves, peeled and sliced1 med. onion, chopped2 cups diced ham8 oz gruyere, shredded
Directions
Place sliced potatoes, onion, thyme, and garlic in medium pot and add milk to cover. Simmer on stove for 20 minutes or until potatoes are done, stirring occasionally.

Using slotted spoon, transfer half of potatoes to a greased casserole dish. Top with 1 cup ham and then 4 oz of cheese. Repeat layers. Pour the milk from the potatoes over the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
