Stuffed Peppers

Ingredients

6 large green peppers1 lb ground turkey2 tbsp chopped onion1 cup cooked rice1 tsp salt1/8 tsp garlic salt1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
*Preheat oven to 350 F
*Cut thin slice from stem of each pepper; remove guts and rinse
*Cook peppers 5 minutes in enough boiling water to cover, drain
*Cook and stir onion and turkey in skillet until turkey is light brown; drain
*Stir in rice, salt, garlic salt, and 1 cup tomato sauce; heat though
*Stuff each pepper with turkey mixture; stand upright in greased 8x8x12 baking dish
*Pour remaining sauce over peppers
*Cover and bake 45 minutes
*Uncover, bake 15 minutes longer

want to do it easy... We call it unstuffed peppers... fry(for a better term meat, onions and other stuff. add brown rice, cut up peppers, onions, add crushed tomatoes, can or fresh, put lid on skillet and simmer til all tender, taste add spices, serve with a salad... a one dish wonder.... enjoy!!! - 8/8/09

This was pretty good, but the pepper came out mushy and completely fell apart the first time. The next time, I skipped the boiling step and it came out just right. The "stuffing" is pretty good but a little lacking in flavor, so you may want to play with the spices a bit to get it just right. - 11/6/08

I enjoyed this version with the turkey. I substituted the white rice and used brown. Once the meat was browned, I mixed the rest of the ingrediants and didn't reheat them. I didn't boil the peppers much and they weren't that mushy but next time I will delete the boiling part. Overall, very tasty. - 11/17/08
