Ingredients
Directions
2 lbs of ground beefSpices to taste - Salt, black pepper, garlic powder, italian seasoning1 - 28 oz can of Petite Diced Tomatoes2 - 26 oz jars of Spaghetti Sauce2 - 12 oz boxes of Whole Wheat Rotini3 tbsp of canola oil1 large (5 quart at least) crock pot
1 - Turn the crock pot on high
2 - Add the canola oil, ground beef and the spices and cover.
3 - Brown the ground beef in the crock pot. Be sure to stir occasionally so the meat does not clump together. This will take a while, especially if the crock pot was cold when the meat was added. (possibly an hour)
4 - After the ground beef is fully cooked, open the can of diced tomatoes and add the entire can to the crock pot.
5 - Add both jars of spaghetti sauce and 1 cup of water.
6 - Cover and let cook for at least an hour and a half. Stir occasionally.
7 - Add both boxes of pasta to the crock pot and stir the mixture so the pasta is completely submerged in the sauce.
8 - Cover and let cook for at least an hour and a half. Stir occasionally.
Total cooking time will be somewhere around 4 hours depending on how hard or soft you like the pasta. I use wheat pasta for this recipe because it doesn't get as soft as regular pasta. Any type of pasta can be substituted.
Make 12 - 16 servings.
