Danish Apple and Prune Cake

For the batter:140g butter200g caster sugar2 eggs, well beaten85g self-raising flour115g ground almonds125ml milk1 tsp vanilla essence1 tbsp boiling water1/2 tsp baking powderFurther ingredients:8 stoned prunes, chopped115g shelled walnuts, finely chopped and mixed with 2 tbsp sugar2 green apples, cored and sliced3 tbsp sugarground cinnamonbutter
Cream together all the ingredients for the batter in a food processor. Pour into a well buttered 25cm cake tin.
Place the prunes on the batter. Spoon over the walnet and sugar mixture. Arrange the apple slices on top of the walnuts. Bake in a preheated oven at 190C/375F/Gas 5 for 45 minutes.
Sprinkle the surface with the sugar and some cinnamon. Dot with butter and bake for a further 20-25 minutes til a skewer comes out clean. Cool in the tin.
