* Chickpeas (garbanzo beans), 2.5 cup (remove) * Onions, raw, 1.5 cup, chopped (remove) * Garlic, 3 cloves (remove) * Ginger Root, 3 tsp (remove) * Olive Oil, 1 1tsp (remove) * *garam masala, .5 tsp (remove) * Pepper, red or cayenne, .25 tsp (remove) * Turmeric, ground, .5 tsp (remove) * Water, tap, .5 cup (8 fl oz) (remove)# Salt, .5 tsp (remove)
Saute onion in hot oil till golden. Add garlic, ginger and turmeric and saute 1 - 2 min. more. Add beans, water and salt and reduce heat to low and let beans soak up spice for about 15 min.
Serve over rice with chutney and yogurt.
