Easy Natillas (New Mexican Custard)

Ingredients

1 Package of Jell-O Fat Free, Sugar Free Pudding Mix, VanillaGround CinnamonGround Nutmeg(Optional: Anise)
Mix pudding according to package, but prior to refridgerating, add one pinch each of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Stir spices into mix thoroughly.
Continue to add nutmeg and cinnamon, one pinch each at a time, to taste.
(*Some recipes use Anise, although this will add a distinctly different flavor to the pudding - use sparingly!)
Refridgerate to set. Serve Cold.
Enjoy!

Natillas is a from scratch soft fluffy custard and not Jello Pudding. It's made with whole milk, egg yolks, egg whites, sugar and vanilla. Make a stove top custard with egg yolks, sugar, milk and vanilla then fold in beaten egg whites. Top with cinnamon Google "New Mexico Natillas" 4 comp. recipe. - 6/3/13

I agree....this recipe does not do justice to the original Natillas and is nothing more than boxed pudding topped w/spices. Real Natillass is all natural and delicious! Note that the Spanish did not enter New Mexico until August of 1598 (414 yrs). Columbus did not leave Europe until 1492. - 12/11/12
