3 pounds extra lean ground beef3 cloves (or more if you like garlic) fresh, minced garlic1 minced onion, medium sized1 minced bell pepper1 cup minced fresh mushrooms3 tablespoons parkay squeeze butter or olive oilherbs and spices - 1 tablespoon eachRosemaryHerbes De ProvenceOreganoOther herbs and spices can be added as you wish.10 cups (about 5 15-ounce cans) tomato sauce2 cups water - use to rinse out the cans
In an 8 quart cooking pot, put butter and heat to sizzle point. Add the minced onion, garlic, mushrooms and pepper. Saute until soft.
Add the beef and spices. Brown the beef.
Add the tomato sauce and water. Stir well. Bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium low and let simmer for at least 1 1/2 hours. Can simmer all day. Just add water if thickens too much and stir occasionally.
