Pooh's Honey Oatmeal Cookies

2 tbsp butter or margarine (softened)1 tbsp liquid shortening or oil1/2 C brown sugar1/4 C honey1 egg1 tbsp water1/2 C white flour, sifted1/2 tsp salt1/4 tsp baking soda1 1/2 C rolled oatsAny amount of the following:Currants, chopped dates, figs, apples, raisins, choc chips, nuts, or a mixture of these.
Yield: 2.5-3 doz depending on amount of fruit, choc, or nuts added.
Preheat oven to 350F.
Mix first 6 ingredients together. Sift the dry ingredients together, add the oats. Blend dry mixture with the liquid mixture. Mix in whatever combination of add-ins you desire.
Drop by heaping teaspoonful onto greased baking sheet.
Bake 12-15 minutes.
Remove to a wire rack (or foil) to cool.
