Chocolate-Covered Rice Krispie Treats

6 cups Rice Krispie cereal1/4 cup butter40 Regular Marshmallows (or 1 - 10 oz bag)
Coat a 13x9 inch pan with nonstick spray, butter or oil. Melt butter in a large pot on low-medium heat. When melted, add marshmallows, stirring periodically until melted and combined with butter. Once melted, take pot off heat and add cereal, stirring until combined well. Pour into a 13x9 inch pan, patting down with hand.
In a double-boiler, melt chocolate over medium-high heat. When almost completely melted, add shortening. Melt completely and mix well. Pour onto cooling cereal and spread out to cover all the bars. Let cool at least one hour to set before cutting.
