Susan's Grandmother's Cake

Ingredients
Cake3 oz. unsweetened chocolate2 1/4 cups cake flour1 cup butter1 1/2 tsp. salt1 1/2 tsp baking soda1 1/8 tsp. baking powder3 eggs1 7/8 cup milk1 1/2 tsp. vanillaFrosting6 oz. unsweetened chocolate4 1/2 Tbsp. butter4 1/2 cups powdered sugar1/8 tsp. salt2 tsp. vanilla extract10-11 Tbsp. milk
Directions
Melt chocolate and butter in double boiler.

Combine dry ingredients in cake mixing bowl. Add chocolate/butter mixture, milk, and vanilla. Mix on speed 2 with flat beater (in a cake mixer) for 1 minute.

Add eggs. Beat speed 2 for 30 seconds. Scrape bowl. Beat speed 6 for 1 minute.

Pour into 2 9-inch greased and floured pans.

Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes. Remove from pans.

FROSTING

Melt butter and chocolate together. In mixing bowl beat butter/chocolate mixture and rest of ingredients. Beat until smooth.
