Ingredients
Directions
1 Lb. of Lean Ground Beef, browned and drained1 Can Tomato Paste (6 oz.)1 Packet McCormick Sloppy Joes Seasoning Mix1-1/4 C. Water1 Onion, Chopped1 Green Pepper, Chopped2 Cloves Garlic, MincedA few dashes of Frank's Red Hot SauceCrushed Red Pepper Flakes to taste
Makes 8 Sandwiches (Buns or Tortillas not included in Nutritional Info)
In a large skillet or pot, brown meat w/ onion, garlic and green pepper over medium-high heat. Drain fat and rinse(if using beef to remove more fat). Return to pan and stir in seasoning mix, crushed red peppers(if you like it spicy), tomato paste and water. Bring to a boil and simmer 10 min. stirring occasionally.
You can serve immediately on buns, tortillas, over noodles or rice. I like to put in my crockpot (to really makes the flavors rich) and heat over low for a good portion of the day (just make sure to add a little extra water through out the slow cooking process and stir occasionally). Before serving add a few dashes of hot sauce.
To make as an appetizer, divide mixture over 24 rolls and top w/ reduced fat cheese and a dill pickle slice, if you like. Cover in foil and keep in the oven on warm setting until party starts.
Also makes a great coney dog sauce.
