The order of steps for making this drink creates the effect that gives the Tequila Sunrise its name. When the grenadine is added to the glass, it initially sinks to the bottom and then begins slowly to rise thus, suggesting the origin of the "sunrise" name.
1.Place ice in glass so it is half full. Add tequila (2 oz) followed by the fresh orange juice (4 oz)
2.Put a flat handled spoon into the glass. Add the grenadine (.75 oz) quickly, allowing it run down the back side of the spoon so it sinks to the bottom of the liquid.
:D - Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.

It cracks me up how we're all looking for a great alcoholic beverage to consume while trying to lose weight! I'm a bartender and I stamp this drink with approval...make sure you get a GOOD tequila that's been aged, something you'd see on an upper shelf, well worth it over the cheaper stuff - 6/25/07
