Slow Cooker Black Beans in Tomato Sauce

  • Number of Servings: 8
Ingredients
1 lb dry black beans2 cups chopped onionWater to coverVarious seasonings to taste. I used garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper and "garlic and more" seasoning1 tbsp plus 2 tsp sugar398 ml can of tomato paste1 tsp of salt
Directions
Soak beans according to your own method (I bring to a boil in lots of water and then turn off heat but leave covered for a couple of hours). Place beans and finely chopped onions in slow cooker and cover with at least an inch of water. Add seasonings (except salt), avoiding any with salt as that may make the beans turn out tough. Cook on low for 8 hours. Add sugar, salt and tomato paste. Serve over brown rice for a complete meal.
