Spicy Tomato Chickpea Soup

Ingredients
2 T olive oil1 sweet onion2-3 cloves garlic1/2 t cumin1/2 t chilli flakes1/2 t mustard seed1/2 t tumeric1-15 oz can chickpeas1 28 oz can diced tomato (or 4 large tomatoes diced)1 tsp salt2 T nutritional yeast1 cup hot waterblack pepper to taste
Directions
Heat the oil in a large skillet with high sides. Add the onion and sautee for 2-3 minutes until soft. Add the garlic, cumin, and chilli flakes and stir for a minute.
add the mustard seed, tumeric and drained chickpeas. Sautee til chickpeas turn golden
add tomatoes and salt and let simmer for 10 to 15 minutes until the tomatoes are cooked.
Transfer the mixture - all or 1/2 at at time- to a blender. Add the nutritional yeast and hot water and blend til smooth. taste and add more salt if needed. Serve with black pepper.
