cream of soup mix substitute

Ingredients
2 1/4 cup powdered milk3/4 cup arrowroot (or cornstarch but nutrion is by arrowroot)1/4 cup chicken boullon or vegetable bouillon granules1/2 tsp seasoning salt2 tsp onion flakes
Directions
Combine all ingredients and store in covered container. Mix 1/3 cup dry mix with 1 1/4 cup cold water.

cook stirring constantly until mixture thickens. cook 2 more minutes.

variations: add 1/4 cup finely chopped mushrooms.

    I use a variation of this recipe when I need a cream of something but don't want to waste half a can of canned soup. A good pantry stand by, you can use many herbs (thyme, basil, and pepper) to suit your own tastes. - 6/15/10
