Lentil and Ham Soup

Ingredients
Lentils, 450 grams Ham, regular (11% fat), 1 cup, diced or ham boneOnions, raw, 1.5 cup, chopped Carrots, raw, 1 cup, chopped Celery, raw, 1 cup, diced Chicken Broth, 3.5 cup (8 fl oz) Water, tap, 8 cup (8 fl oz) 1 cinnamon stick1 bay leaf5 cloves garlic, crushed
Directions
In a 6- to 8-quart kettle combine all ingredients and simmer soup, covered partially, stirring occasionally, 1 1/2 hours. Discard bay leaf and cinnamon stick and remove meat from bone or hocks. Chop meat and stir into soup.
