Ingredients
This is a tasty recipe. Shred cabbage. Chop Onions and Apples. In a big pot add a small amount of oil. Add Cabbage, onion, apples. Add 2 tbsp cinnamonadd 3 tbsp Cider vinegar and let cook until some liquid shows up from the cabbage. If not add a small amountAdd 1/3 cup brown sugar or too taste. I add a little less as I don't like it real sweet. Cook till it is soft and all ingredients dark red.
Directions
Add to pot apples and cabbage. Add vinegar and cook on low stirring often. Cabbage and apples will give out moisture. Once cabbage cooking stir occasionally to cook evenly. I usually cook this on low for 1 1/2 hours till tender. This was given to me by my Mother who cooks by taste. Sorry if the ingredients are off.

    I will have to ask my mum (we are German) for her Rotkohl recipe. I think she changes it every year, sometimes apples, sometimes cinnamon, one year she even added cherries :) - 7/11/09
